Times Passage

With the arrival of September 20, 2007, a full year has now passed since Brother Alban left us.

Needless to say, time has done little to mitigate the sorrow of his absence, and we find ourselves wondering how it could possibly be a year since the story of Alban's life closed.

Is there not a longing to speak with him again? Wouldn't it be wonderous to share a guffaw at the stories of his youthful transgressions, or to attempt to understand the spiritual inner light that guided him to, and through, his half-century at Gethsemani?

While it is clear that we cannot truly visit with him again, we are fortunate to have some of his stories preserved from a discussion held on October 12, 2003 at the Gethsemani guest house. As if any of us needed to be reminded, this video illustrates again that Alban was (and no doubt continues to be) a wonderful spirit. We hope you enjoy it and think of him fondly on this, the anniversary of his death.
